I believe so. Recent market share studies show that Android is hitting it big against Apple. As of 2012, global market shares for Android was at 52% compared to 35% by Apple. This is according to Nielsen’s 2012 Survey on Top US Smartphone Operating systems.

As of June 2013, Nielsen survey says that Android OS users in the US grew to 53%, up by only 1% from the previous year compared to 40% for iOS which is up by 5% from the previous year. This however is expected to grow to 80% or better within the coming year due to the ever increasing popularity of Android as a smartphone Operating system.
